In the hills above the Grebaštica town, tradition of making olive oil is in Svirčić's family for generations. From the beginnings with the old fashioned hot pressed oil to the newest techniques of processing olives so called cold press. Cold pressing is a common way to make olive oil without the use of heat or chemicals. It involves crushing olives into a paste, then applying force with a mechanical press to separate the oil from the pulp while temperatures cannot exceed 27 C. The purpose of cold pressing the olives is to retain its nutritional values such as unsaturated fat acid, antioxidants, vitamin E (anti-inflammatory), oleic acid (for immunity). Protecting of heart disease, delaying progression of the osteoarthritis, reducing risk of type 2 diabetes are just some of the benefits of the proper way of processing the olives.

In addition to oil, you can try wine from the traditional Babić wine sort which is famous for these parts of Croatia. It produces powerful, full bodied wines of an deep red color. The grapes are also very tasty to eat! Babić wine is highly recommended if you long for the flavors of the Mediterranean, Grebaštica town and the Šibenik area.

Fresh vegetables in the garden are also something that you will enjoy in the Svirčić's house as well as fig groves where you can get acquainted with the drying procedure, checking out different figs and how they taste.
